Publisher Description
Daniel J. Boorstin, former librarian of the Library of Congress, gives a fascinating history of world civilization. From astronomical development, microscopes, telescopes, medicine, vaccines, genetics and map-making, the author delves into the discoveries of our world and the freedoms those discoveries bestowed. With the breadth and depth of this study, Boorstin relieves the world of its fictitious beliefs and encourages a more modern and scientific approach to the world around us. Discovery is not the main event: convincing people to accept the facts as a new way of life is the key to the growth of mankind.
Customer Reviews
Good book, but abridged
I bought this audio book thinking that it would be unabridged, but in fact, it is missing some parts that the book contains. Wonderful material and crisp quality, but I was disappointed that the audio left out some sections of the book.
Stop. Wait and Read This Before Purchasing!
This is an abridged reading of a fantastic book. A significant amount of highly informative and enriching content is cut out and the original text is mangled for brevity much to the detriment of the work as a whole. This is a huge disappointment to Boorstin readers. This information should have been provided to potential customers. The narrator does a great job, and one wishes that an unabridged version has been produced.
Disappointed
I thought this was unabridged but find it is missing whole sections. Very disappointed! Love the content of the full unabridged book, but I wouldn’t have spent my money on a Partial audio version!
