Publisher Description

Considered to the be one of most influential American authors, Howard Philip Lovecraft is synonymous with some of the best fantasy and horror fiction of the 20th century, second only to Edgar Allan Poe.

In "The Dunwich Horror" (1928), Wilbur Whateley, the son of a deformed albino mother and an unknown father, matures at an abnormal rate, reaching manhood within a decade. All the while, his sorcerer grandfather indoctrinates him into certain dark rituals and the study of witchcraft.

"The Thing at the Doorstep" was written five years later. Confessing to the killing of his friend Edward Derby, Daniel Upton hopes his account will prove he is not a murderer.

Excellent Book Done Well as an audiobook

As a fan of Lovecraft who has read every one of his stories without listening to the audiobook versions I must say this audiobook version of one of Lovecraft's iconic works is really well done and is the perfect counterpart to the written version.
I've made it a summer project to track down all of the audiobook versions of stories found in Lovecraft's Cthulu Mythos and listen to them while reading the e-book on my Ipad, Great way to pass a hot, languid afternoon. This is the third or fourth story I've done this with and the audio narration is above average- nice pace, great tone-not over or under acted. My one complaint ( a minor one) is that the narrator of this book and most Lovecraft audiobooks seems to be speaking with a faint British accent. This is weird because Lovecraft was a 'dyed in the wool' New Englander, specifically Providence, Rhode Island and so one would expect the narrator's accent to be New England. Overall, excellent version of an excellent short story. Highly reccommended.

Great stories enhanced by a wonderful narration

A really good pair of stories from an incredible writer. The narrator does an amazing job with the material and brings it to life. If you like Lovecraft, you’ll love this audiobook.
