Publisher Description

International sex researcher, neuroscientist, and columnist Debra Soh debunks popular gender myths in this scientific examination of the many facets of gender identity that “is not only eminently reasonable and beautifully-written, it is brave and vital” (Ben Shapiro, #1 New York Times bestselling author).

Is our gender something we’re born with, or are we conditioned by society? In The End of Gender, neuroscientist and sexologist Dr. Debra Soh uses a research-based approach to address this hot-button topic, unmasking popular misconceptions about the nature vs. nurture debate and exploring what it means to be a woman or a man in today’s society.

Both scientific and objective, and drawing on original research and carefully conducted interviews, Soh tackles a wide range of issues, such as gender-neutral parenting, gender dysphoric children, and the neuroscience of being transgender. She debates today’s accepted notion that gender is a social construct and a spectrum, and challenges the idea that there is no difference between how male and female brains operate.

The End of Gender is conversation-starting “required reading” (Eric R. Weinstein, PhD, host of The Portal) that will arm you with the facts you need to come to your own conclusions about gender identity and its place in the world today.

Not what you think. Read it!

So I read the reviews calling it transphobic. They clearly didn’t read it. It is a good book loaded with current scientific data on the subject from both perspectives. In fact, the only part of the book I didn’t like is that she felt compelled every other paragraph to reiterate her support for the LGBTQ community. A simple disclaimer upfront would have been sufficient. I guess she thought it would blunt some of the blow back. Maybe she is new here. Either way, really worth the read as it is about as unbiased as you can ask for.

A Warrior-Scientist for Truth

Finally, some desperately needed clarity on gender, sex, and the related culture war. It’s not hyperbole to say Debra Soh is a warrior-scientist defending the study of objective truth. This book is a beacon of hope in an era of anti-intellectualism. Whether you’re a leftist confused by the dubious shaming tactics and the poortly thought out ideologies of progressives or you are a conservative open-minded enough to learn more deeply about the topic of sex and the social influences of gender, there’s something for you here. At the very least, we owe it to our children (and ourselves) to build an honest society that nurtures innate interests, not imposes oppressive misunderstandings from both the right and the left.

Light on Science, Heavy on Victimhood

This book could have used a better editor. I was hoping for a more robust curation of scientific literature. Maybe it exists, maybe it doesn’t. This book was 25% science and 75% complaining about how the left has been mean to the author. Grievance literature becomes tiresome quickly, regardless of the author’s politics. I’ve heard the author interviewed in various podcasts, so I decided to listen to the audiobook. I didn’t learn anything she hadn’t already said on podcasts.
