The Wheel of Time ® is a PBS Great American Read Selection! Now in development for TV!
Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. Now, this beloved series is in development for TV!
The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.
When The Two Rivers is attacked by Trollocs—a savage tribe of half-men, half-beasts— five villagers flee that night into a world they barely imagined, with new dangers waiting in the shadows and in the light.
TV series update: "Sony will produce along with Red Eagle Entertainment and Radar Pictures. Rafe Judkins is attached to write and executive produce. Judkins previously worked on shows such as ABC’s Agents of SHIELD, the Netflix series Hemlock Grove, and the NBC series Chuck. Red Eagle partners Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon will executive produce along with Radar’s Ted Field and Mike Weber. Darren Lemke will also executive produce, with Jordan’s widow Harriet McDougal serving as consulting producer." —Variety

A word of caution
If you are thinking of buying this book I would offer this word of caution.
It will warp your views of all other fantasy, after reading or listening to the numerous volumes of Jordan you will thirst for more. When you look to other authors to meet this thirst you will be dissapointed. There are no other books in this field that come in even a close second.
When you are done you will mark its passing and judge all others by it
THE great fantasy epic of this generation
What can I say about this series that has not been said a million times by better reviewers than I? If you are a fan of fantasy fiction, this one is a no-brainer. Don't be put off by the length of the story (spans 11 VERY long books, and 1 short novel). The characters are so engaging that it's scary sometimes. Jordan's attention to detail is freakishly perfect, and the first 5 or 6 novels in the series are superbly paced. If you're considering checking out something in the fantasy genre, this is a great place to start. The "Wheel of Time" series is the "Godfather" of modern fantasy.
Amazing book (nice and long)
First of all this book was amazing. I bought this book for a plane trip but I didn't get around to listening to it intensely until about a month and a half later. I was completely amazed by it. The notable things about this audiobook are: the narrating (quite good and not overly dramatized); the numerous events (you cannot keep track of how many favorite parts you have because it's so long); and that its a decent size so you can listen to it for a long time. It's fairly slow in the beginning but the author makes up for it by making the rest of the book totally hook you.
