MyFestivus ,

Well done.

The first reviewer seems to have an ax to grind. The sound effects are a bit loud but I feel that they add to the atmosphere. I have purchased several of these stories and have been able to understand the narrator perfectly fine and have enjoyed them all. If you are interested in these stories give them a shot. Don't let the review above mine stop you.

Too much "sonic" detritus, narrator's voice hard to listen to

While the content is excellent as every with regard to Mr. Lovecraft's work the delivery is absolutely awful. The "Sonic Movie" is a morass of sounds and effects that contrary to adding to the theme and atmosphere of horror and suspense instead crowd out the narrator and make it very difficult to listen to the story. This situation is further exacerbated by the narrators voice being very monotone and S-L-O-W... It would seem that the idea was to warp the narrator's voice to make it sound otherworldly and ethereal. To effect a sort of a ferry man taking the listener on a voyage through unknown and weird vistas but instead simply forces the listener to focus hard on the words that sometime blend so well with the sound effects that it comes out intelligible. A truly regrettable purchase on this Lovecraft fan's part.

Way over done

Way too many unnecessary sound effects that neither added emphasis or suspense. Could barely follow the narrative at times because the added sounds drowned it out.
