The First Rule
Rule 1, don't mess with Joe Pike (the main character) ;). Rule 2, Read/listen to everything Crais writes, he's stellar both as a writer and narrator. His characters are right in there with the best (Lucas Davenport/Sandford, Dirk Pitt/Cussler) and of course others. Crais may be the high mark to hit and don't be surprised when some of his stuff goes big screen (again). Fun, great characters and not for the faint of heart. Rockin. Check out The Watchman (first Pike solo) as well.
Engages from the beginning
I never thought I'd enjoy an author as much as Michael Connelly but Crais does it for me. I have listened to Sentry, Suspect, Taken, and The Monkey's Raincoat. They all deserve 5 stars except the last one mentioned. I enjoy them as much on the second go through as I do on the first. Suspect was so good I'll go three times with it.
