“Entirely satisfying, an expert balance of warmth and compassion, terrific supporting characters, a little steamy sex, and just enough suspense to keep you from guessing how it will all go down.” — Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A sassy, sexy, sometimes poignant look at small town Southern life, as only New York Times bestseller Mary Kay Andrews can tell it.
The Fixer Upper is a must-read for fans of Fannie Flagg, Sophie Kinsella, the Ya-Yas, and the Sweet Potato Queens, and for every reader obsessed with decorating and home repair. It is a truly delectable story of a woman whose professional fall from grace lands her back in a hometown she never knew, amongst a gothic Southern family she’s never met, and saddled with a task she could never have imagined.
Nice Summer Listen - Delightful & Fun
I listened to this book while walking my dogs and enjoyed the great pacing, professional narrator (you'd swear there are multiple people telling you the story rather than just one person), tension and story line. It's a fun, light 'read' with some cliche' moments, language and plot lines, but I found myself walking longer, more often and cheering for Dempsy and the other characters. It is a pleasure!
The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews
This book was an absolute delight.. The perfect blend of political nefariousness and down home humor, southern charm and hot sexual tension e. I couldn't tear myself away.. I plan to read all her books. I especially loved the recipes at the end. hope she makes this one into a series because it left me with my mouth still watering.
I loved this book and thought the narrator was fantastic. She was great at all the different characters voices and it enhanced all the characters. Made it seem more like a movie than an audio book. The story was great too!
