Fear can save your life. It directs you to avoid that stranger, to leave the room, to call for help. The intuitive message of fear, together with rational principles, can help you to predict and thereby avoid personal violence. In this program Gavin de Becker, America's leading expert on predicting violent behavior, demystifies the apparently random and unpredictable nature of violence and shows you how interpersonal violence can be detected and derailed. De Becker's clients include celebrities, corporations, and political organizations, and he serves as an adviser to the CIA and the U.S. Supreme Court.
With anything related to self-help, I like to get the abridged versions in order to cut out the all-too-frequent fluff. Happily, most all fluff in the full version, has been cut out (except for some typically pedestrian Oprahist comments near the end). Get this book. Listen carefully. It may well save your life. Listen to your intuition when dealing with people. Don't let being nice cause you to get killed. This especially pertains to women. And women, arm yourselves. Nothing in this world makes more sense than women exercising their natural right to maximally defend themselves. Women above all should be screaming from the rooftops in defense of the 2nd Amendment.
I bought the book from barns and noble today and then I went and bought this audiobook so I can have both. They are different! The audiobook is missing things from the book, wording is changed and it’s so confusing. This audio either needs to be updated or say what version it is. I wasted my money
Just read the book. The audiobook is so monotone and bland. It lacks animation and inflection. Those things that draw you in, this voice made this GOOD book hard to finish.
