The Girl in the Garden

Publisher Description

Along the trails of endless pines, I search for truth and follow signs.

How’s your summer going? Mine is ruined.

Hi. My name is Ri. I’m the kind of delinquent teenage girl you hear horror stories about.

My parents thought they could reform my “bad” attitude and get me away from my “troublemaking” friends in the city by shipping me off to my grandparents’ house in the countryside for the summer. I’m supposed to stay clear of the “forbidden” forest and piss away my days in my grandparents’ stupid rose garden alongside a boy named Avery.

Avery is seventeen, but he chooses to work for my grandparents because he likes roses.

Well, the joke’s on them. I’m getting the hell out of here, and I won’t let anyone stop me—especially not some weirdo boy.

Narrator could do better

It’s a great story and I do like it. I listened to whole story/book. Can’t wait to finish next level. BUT… the Author/Narrator could do a lot better reading the story. Put some characters behind the reading. Make the story come alive for us listeners. Seem just bland. Just my opinion but I do like the book. Thanks.

That girl literally got assaulted

The story overall was fine. But what has to be mentioned is that Dwane straight up assaulted Ri when they went back to her house. That was as glossed over as it could have been. He physically attacked her, injured her, scared her with threats, made her cry, and then her “friends” told her that he wasn’t a bad guy.
