Like every other hobbit, Bilbo Baggins likes nothing better than a quiet evening in his snug hole in the ground, dining on a sumptuous dinner in front of a fire. But when a wandering wizard captivates him with tales of the unknown, Bilbo becomes restless. Soon he joins the wizard’s band of homeless dwarves in search of giant spiders, savage wolves, and other dangers. Bilbo quickly tires of the quest for adventure and longs for the security of his familiar home. But before he can return to his life of comfort, he must face the greatest threat of all—a treasure-troving dragon named Smaug.
In his fantasy classic, master storyteller J.R.R. Tolkein creates a bewitching world filled with delightful creatures and thrilling dangers. Narrator Rob Inglis will hold listeners of all ages spellbound with his skillful portrayal of hobbits, dwarves, and enchanted beasts.
APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
It’s a fantasy masterpiece for good reason: The Hobbit has something for everyone, from preteens to university professors. Hobbits are a short, furry-footed people who always prefer the comforts of home to exciting adventures. But that changes on the day that amiable homebody Bilbo Baggins joins a burly crew on their quest to slay a menacing dragon and embarks on a thrilling journey involving tangles with giant spiders and talking eagles. J.R.R. Tolkien’s world-building and storytelling are surprisingly fast-paced and his tone is charming and lyrical, and actor Rob Inglis captures both qualities with nimble grace.

Only 2 tracks!
Instead of dividing this up into chapters or sections, this is divided into 2 six hour tracks. I find that very inconvient to navigate. Disappointed.
I'm so glad they finally came out with this! I've could never understand why it was left out. I'm also super glad that they got Rob Inglis to do the narrating as he did a fantastic job with the Lord of the Rings books. Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Response to Negatives! It's great...
I give this top ratings. It is a very fine and complete unabridged audiobook. So I'd like to address some of the issues I saw from others.
Yes it is only two main tracks. But it will let you select individual chapters within the 2 tracks. So instead of using Skip, you'll have to select the chapter manually. Just like any other album.
It will remember your position. By default it does not. All you have to do is open it in iTunes and edit the options. There is a checkbox to make it "Remember position". You must set the option to 'Yes' IN ADDITION to checking the check box.
So problems solved in my book. I will by the other three by Rob Ingles. :)
