Publisher Description
Having a baby was my lifelong dream. How could I have known it would turn into my worst nightmare?
They warned me the first few days of motherhood would be exhausting, but I’m so deliriously happy, I don’t mind one bit.
Smiling, I glance at the baby blue blanket I crocheted. I’ve never knitted a thing in my life, but I was determined to make my newborn his very first blanket—a one-of-a-kind welcome-home gift.
I tug the rocker closer to me, unable to resist peeking at my beautiful baby boy.
I pull back the blanket. It feels like my heart flatlines. He’s not here.
Sweat beads on my forehead, and my limbs turn to ice.
“Where is he?” I cry, my whole body trembling, the wind knocked out of me. “Where is my baby?”
I don’t understand how he’s not in his crib. I don’t know who could have taken him. I can’t even trust my own husband, who keeps telling me we don’t have a baby.
But I know that he’s real. He has to be. And I will stop at nothing to get him back....
An absolutely gripping psychological thriller that will have your heart racing. Prepare yourself for jaw-dropping, mind-blowing twists! Perfect for fans of The Housemaid, The Family Across the Street, and The Family Upstairs.

Riveting!
The Homemaker, by Shari j. Ryan is a compelling psychological thriller. It is about a newlywed couple, Jenna and Oliver, who purchased their first home, sight unseen, in a neighborhood they had been wanting to move into. Jenna made a close friend in Peyton, who lived across the street. The book begins following the birth of Jenna and Oliver’s first child when something is wrong with Jenna and the story evolves from there.
This book is told from the perspective of Jenna and Ginger, a neighbor who lived across the street. The author used a non-linear timeline when telling the story, which added to the mystery as the reader slowly receives more pieces of the puzzle. The author weaves the details of the story in this way to keep the reader guessing about what was truly happening until the very end. There were many little mysteries happening in the background of the main storyline, that of Jenna and her son, River. Ginger’s story seems strange and erratic as does her relationships with her neighbors and her own children. A number of troubling things had happened on her street and she seemed to be at the center of much of it. I have read quite a number of this author’s books and have observed her writing evolve over time from a pretty typical romance novel to this last title, which was exquisitely crafted and had me riveted almost from the first sentence. Lovers of psychological thrillers should definitely pick up a copy of The Homemaker. I am confident that you will not regret it! I am voluntarily submitting this honest review after reading an advanced complementary copy of this book thanks to Netgalley and Bookoture.
