Fun and unique
It's rare to find good science fiction where the protagonist is a single mom. I really identified with her. And I loved the German Shepherd too. Interesting world building too. Can't wait for the next volume!
Irresistible Inheritance
This story is irresistible- it pulls you in from the first story lines and keeps you engrossed clear to the end. Ilona’s world building is intriguing and ingenious, and her characters are believable in spite of their unbelievable “talents”. The story of the single mom triumphing against all odds to return home to her children resounds with realistic struggles even amidst unrealistic supernatural opposition.
The only reason I didn’t give the story 5 stars was the profuse profane language. Although appropriately used during her characters’ duress in challenging circumstances, it lacks the creativity that this author clearly has. Why fall back to vulgar language when you can be creative with your expletives and avoid the dumbing down that excessive profanity elicits?
The story line was so engaging however, I stayed through to the end, even though the profane language was tiresome and offensive.
Ilona has some serious story writing skills! I look forward to the next book in the series!
