John Hodder, stepping into the large shoes of his predecessor, is the new rector at St. John's, a church in a fashionable section of town that isn't so far away from the misery of poverty-stricken Dalton Street. Quite quickly, Hodder becomes exposed to contradictions between his faith and the lack of piousness it entails for the actions of his parishioners and himself.
