Get to know the detective in charge of Copenhagen's coldest cases in the first electrifying Department Q mystery from New York Times bestselling author Jussi Adler-Olsen.

Carl Mørck used to be one of Denmark’s best homicide detectives. Then a hail of bullets destroyed the lives of two fellow cops, and Carl—who didn’t draw his weapon—blames himself. So a promotion is the last thing he expects. But Department Q is a department of one, and Carl’s got only a stack of cold cases for company. His colleagues snicker, but Carl may have the last laugh, because one file keeps nagging at him: a liberal politician vanished five years earlier and is presumed dead. But she isn’t dead...yet.

Darkly humorous, propulsive, and atmospheric, The Keeper of Lost Causes introduces American readers to the mega-bestselling series fast becoming an international sensation.

Keeper of Lost Causes (Department Q #1)

Excellent mystery/thriller with an outstanding ending that kept me sitting in the parking lot to finish (audio edition). Like other dark Scandanavian novelists, Adler-Olsen doesn't necessarily believe in happy flowers and rainbow endings. Wish all 5 in the series would be translated into English. Reader is very good at creating characters.

The most annoying Audiobook in history - ruins a great book

I bought this audiobook… and I couldn’t listen to it. The actor’s name and all the ridiculous accents he uses for every single character all the time makes listening the most excruciating process since tax day.

I had head great things about the book, so I bought the paper copy and read it. The book is great.

But the faux radio play stylings of this audiobook presentation makes it impossible to listen to. It would have been immeasurably better had the narrator just read the book instead of adopting silly Scandanavian accents for every character in the book. Just read the dang thing and let people get lost in the story. There is NO NEED to try to show off your acting chops by the silly accents instead of just reading dialogue.

The narrator destroyed the book.

Loved, Loved, LOVED this book!

What a fantastic book! I was so sad when I finished the Steig Larson trilogy, but this made it all better. The characters are outstanding, and the writing and great narration really bring their personalities to life. I usuallly leave my iPod in the car and listen to my audiobooks on the way to and from work, but this story had me so far on the edge of my seat that I brought it in the house to listen in the evenings-- couldn't wait until the following morning to find out what would happen next. Can't wait for the English version of the rest of the series!!!
