Publisher Description
The Lurking Fear - even the title could invoke fear. Fear could lurk anywhere, but in this H. P. Lovecraft short story, written in 1922, by a narrator who describes himself as "a connoisseur in horrors", it lurks in a haunted house in upstate New York. Listen to this tale on a dark and stormy night... if you dare.

Lovecraft's Lurking Fear
I was pretty excited to see and hear (preview) a decent unabridged audio recording of one Lovecraft's underrated and under-recorded short stories, Lurking Fear. I love the old fashioned 'Weird Tales' era, pulp-fiction cover and enjoy the narrator's deep, American-accented voice. Lovecraft was an American and native Rhode Islander, but often his books are audio narrated by someone with a British accent, nothing wrong with that, but it just sounds odd. However, the price of $5.95 is a little steep for a short story clocking in under and hour. So, for now I'll pass going with a new recording of 'The Color Out of Space', also under-rated and under-recorded and priced right at $2.95 for over an hour of audio.
