In development as a major motion picture
Molly Gray is not like everyone else. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. Her gran used to interpret the world for her, codifying it into simple rules that Molly could live by.
Since Gran died a few months ago, twenty-five-year-old Molly has been navigating life’s complexities all by herself. No matter—she throws herself with gusto into her work as a hotel maid. Her unique character, along with her obsessive love of cleaning and proper etiquette, make her an ideal fit for the job. She delights in donning her crisp uniform each morning, stocking her cart with miniature soaps and bottles, and returning guest rooms at the Regency Grand Hotel to a state of perfection.
But Molly’s orderly life is upended the day she enters the suite of the infamous and wealthy Charles Black, only to find it in a state of disarray and Mr. Black himself dead in his bed. Before she knows what’s happening, Molly’s unusual demeanor has the police targeting her as their lead suspect. She quickly finds herself caught in a web of deception, one she has no idea how to untangle. Fortunately for Molly, friends she never knew she had unite with her in a search for clues to what really happened to Mr. Black—but will they be able to find the real killer before it’s too late?
A Clue-like, locked-room mystery and a heartwarming journey of the spirit, The Maid explores what it means to be the same as everyone else and yet entirely different—and reveals that all mysteries can be solved through connection to the human heart.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
In this dryly funny mystery, a hotel maid adds solving a murder to her list of daily chores. Molly Gray adores her job at the Regency Grand; no one is as good as she is at putting right dust, grime, smudges, and general disorder. What she’s not good at is judging character. So when Molly stumbles across the body of Mr. Black, the powerful tycoon staying in the penthouse suite, she finds herself putting her trust in the wrong people—and being arrested for the crime. First-time author Nita Prose has crafted a suspenseful murder mystery that doubles as a charming comedy of errors. Actress Lauren Ambrose (from Six Feet Under and Servant) handles Molly’s first-person narration brilliantly, making the maid’s non-neurotypical logic feel plausible. We adored spending time with this lonely and confused young woman who simply wants love, financial security, and perfect cleanliness. This is an audiobook that will make time fly by.

Refreshing perspective on neurodivergence
Molly, the protagonist, adds depth to the story and inspires empathy, contributing to a better understanding of autism.
Molly is autistic and simply wonderful.
As the mother of an autistic daughter, I loved this book. It’s not only a murder mystery but it covers several other important topics, such as the struggles neurodivergent people encounter, as well as grief. The people reviewing this book that say they hated Molly are what is wrong with this world. If you read this and learn nothing, I feel sad for you. It is well done and very believable and I feel the neurodivergent aspect was accurately portrayed. Well done.
Great read, interesting puzzle to figure out
The author created a delightful and engaging story that made me laugh, cry and want to write down Gran’s words of wisdom. Keep on writing, your mysteries are wonderful to read. You have a new fan.
