But when a famous author drops dead in the hotel’s tearoom, Molly is drawn into a criminal investigation and forced to revisit her childhood—when her grandmother worked in the dead man’s mansion. Nita Prose’s charming Molly the Maid series is full of wonderfully layered characters, multiple suspects, and a very likable (and eccentric) heroine. Narrator Lauren Ambrose handles Molly’s dialogue beautifully, and she provides memorable voices for all the other characters as well. It’s an utterly absorbing performance. If you love quirky and cozy mysteries, you’ll adore The Mystery Guest.
