Everything you believe about how to lose weight is wrong. Weight gain and obesity are driven by hormones - in everyone - and only by understanding the effects of insulin and insulin resistance can we achieve lasting weight loss.
In this highly listenable and provocative book, Dr. Jason Fung sets out an original, robust theory of obesity that provides startling insights into proper nutrition. In addition to his five basic steps - a set of lifelong habits that will improve your health and control your insulin levels - Dr. Fung explains how to use intermittent fasting to break the cycle of insulin resistance and reach a healthy weight - for good.
I though the concepts were interesting and made sense to me. The only thing about the audiobook is that I didn’t like the narration. The narrator’s style was distracting and I wish he looked up the pronunciations of words he didn’t know like quinoa, legume and it was really grating every time he said “glycogen”
Loved the obesity code . Dr. Fung explains why we get fat. I have a very good understanding of insulin resistance and what causes it. I have recommended this book to several of my friends .
As a doctor
I’ve harbored similar notions since my medical school days to what is written in this book, and from a biochemical/metabolic view- the reasoning is sound. The argument is evidence based.
I, as everyone does have a few critiques, but I enjoyed reading/hearing the book on my hamster wheel of a treadmill. Good work getting the message out, Doc.
