Integral book for the series but disappointing audio
This book is where certain characters shift into being major players and it contains large amounts of backstory for the overall arch of the series. It is disappointing that they changed narrators, leading to a change in pronunciation of many words, and a drastic drop in audio quality. There are loud pops that pull you out of the story, and every couple of chapters there is loud music the disrupts the flow of the story. I give the book 4 stars, the audio 2 for an over all of 3 stars
Too painful to listen to
The mispronunciations, and dismal character voice attempts along with the unnecessary and annoying musical interludes ruined it. I couldn’t stomach past the third chapter.
Since I love the series so far, I will read this one in a traditional sense and skip to the next audiobook
Bad pronunciation and other audio issues
A lot of people did not like her voice, but I didn’t have a terrible issue with that. My biggest issue was her pronunciation of certain words or names. For instance instead of saying Takata like you would pronounce a Japanese person‘s name as one word with three syllables, she pronounces it like a Hawaiian deity name as three separate words with one syllable. Taw-Kaw-Taw. As well, when something dramatic happens, this annoying violin music starts to play and it lasts for about 30 seconds. Finally every chapter there is this horrible clique mixed with a sound that sounds like a fork scraping on a plate noise that blows out your eardrums. It is like they just recorded it in one go, did not bother to her correct her pronunciation, and did not bother to listen to it for any problems before releasing it. Overall I sort of like her voice and I think she would be great as an adult cartoon character and some TV show. But just changing the voice of an already established character to someone else’s voice just felt very wrong.
