Publisher Description
For many parents of troubled teenagers, a therapeutic program that takes the child from the home for a period of time offers some respite from the daily tumult of acting out, lies, and tension that has left the family under siege. However, just as the teenager is embarking on a journey of self-discovery, skill-development, and emotional maturation, so parents too need to use this time to recognize that their own patterns may have contributed to their family's downward spiral. This is The Parallel Process. Using case studies garnered from her many years as an adolescent and family therapist, Krissy Pozatek shows parents of preteens, adolescents, and young adults how they can help their children by attuning to emotions, setting limits, not rushing to their rescue, and allowing them to take responsibility for their actions, while recognizing their own patterns of emotional withdrawal, workaholism, and of surrendering their lives and personalities to parenting. The Parallel Process is an essential primer for all parents, whether of troubled teens or not, who are seeking to help the family stay and grow together as they negotiate the potentially difficult teenage years.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧Captivating & Emotional!
This is a fascinating spin on time travel and parallel lives and romance, the story drew me in immediately, capturing my attention and holding it the entire book. The characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, they are was to care about and root for too. Quinn Stewart dreamt of the same man since she was a young child, the first time she dreamed of Nick she said he was her husband, an odd dream for a child yet it was a vivid one. She continued to have these dreams her entire life, and it was always Nick, but those were only dreams. In real life, she has been with Jeff and they are engaged to be married. They needed to find a new wedding venue and found one outside the city, but when they get there Quinn has a déjà vu moment before passing out. Concerned with her health, Jeff brings her to the hospital, and that is where she sees him, the man of her dreams. Nick Reilly, a doctor of neurology, feels a pull towards Quinn and she knows things about him that no one should know, it is like they spent time together in another lifetime which is not an easy grasp for a man who follows the science. O’Roark weaves a complex story, going back and forth with different timelines while piecing it all together. I loved how real she made it all seem, not a simple task in a fantasy paranormal novel, but she masters it well. The story is fascinating, imaginative, and cleverly plotted with the perfect balance of drama, angst, mystery, twists and turns, heartfelt emotions and some steamy, dreamlike romance. The ending leaves you wanting more, and I am looking forward to how it all plays out for Quinn and Nick. Elle O’Roark, thank you for this wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Samantha Brentmoor and Jason Clarke were the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. Their portrayal of the characters was spot on and I loved the way they took each role, ran with it and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Brentmoor grasped every side of Quinn’s personality and played her role with perfection. Clarke’s Nick was just as amazing, swoon worthy and caring. Both were great performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’s emotions and projected them into their performance. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen.
