The Princess Diarist
is Carrie Fisher’s intimate, hilarious and revealing recollection of what happened behind the scenes on one of the most famous film sets of all time, the first Star Wars movie.   *PEOPLE Magazine Best Book of Fall 2016  *New York Times Bestseller *

When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved—plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naiveté, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a teenager with an all-consuming crush on her costar, Harrison Ford.

With these excerpts from her handwritten notebooks, The Princess Diarist is Fisher’s intimate and revealing recollection of what happened on one of the most famous film sets of all time—and what developed behind the scenes.  Fisher also ponders the joys and insanity of celebrity, and the absurdity of a life spawned by Hollywood royalty, only to be surpassed by her own outer-space royalty. Laugh-out-loud hilarious and endlessly quotable, The Princess Diarist brims with the candor and introspection of a diary while offering shrewd insight into the type of stardom that few will ever experience.

If you forgot what it was like to be young.

This was published about a month before Carrie Fisher died; prematurely by any sense of the word.
The book is in two parts; reminising about her relationship with H. Ford, star wars and the times (1979). And the actual diary composed of thoughts, poems and the very self distructive thoughts that a less neurotic, self obsessed person can bush aside.. it is a record of how it is like to be a young girl, 19 to be exact. I don’t think it is a idiosyncratic depiction of a unique person per se, a lot of people take that road but a more concrete reality is always in the passengers seat for most.
So if you are young the last half might be the part of interest but I found the first half better.
If there is any reason not to keep a diary, you will find it here along with reasons to keep one.

Excellent!

This is exactly what I needed right now as I mourn Fisher's death. I love this woman so much, and I already read this book, but hearing her read it herself in the audio version is helping me get through this hard time. I highly recommend this book, as well as every book she has ever written. I've read them all, and they are all worth a buy and a read. Rest in peace, Carrie. You will always mean the world to me.

long time Star Wars fan ,

It’s awesome and very honest like Carrie Fisher herself!

Carrie Fisher is an awesome and honest actress and author! Her tell-all book is must read book! It is perfection and it is perfect for girls (like me) that looked up to her and Debbie Reynolds.
