I was totally swept away

I thoroughly enjoyed this time travel romance. It’s been over 25 years since I read one and I have forgotten how much I miss being swept away the way this book did for me. In my 20s and living in Scotland I had romantic dreams of time travel. So, this book was a wonderful way to embrace those memories once again.
Riveted from the first page to the last, there’s something magical about romances where souls are meant to be together passing through time… that centuries won’t prevent these people from being together. They will find a way. I find that very magical. Brianna is a strong woman who’s trying to find her place in this world where she has lost her connection to family. And Aiden is that perfect Scottish Laird, a gentle protective giant who didn’t realize how much he needed and wanted love until Brianna
This is the first book by Kim Sakwa I’ve read, and I wish I would’ve started with the first in the series only because I so love the whole premise of everything here that I would’ve loved to of had more of the backstory. I will definitely be going back and reading books 1-3, because I really want to get the full experience of these characters. But in no way does me starting at book 4 detract from my rating. Although Brianna is from the future, I like how Sakwa changed the vocabulary to represent the times, and did it gradually as the book progressed, as if Brianna’s getting used to living there, and things in the 15th C are becoming second nature to her.
Marian Hussey did a fantastic job narrating and covering all the voices. I did not miss a male duet narration at all. The Scottish accent is not easy, and she was spot on for all of the Scottish characters. She superbly voiced the male characters as well in a deeper rich tone. It’s Wonderful!!
