Lauren Blakely pens another winning novel set in her “Love and Hockey” series, a brother’s best friend, friends-to-lovers, marriage of convenience, sports romance, and it is wonderful, a story that will capture your heart and captivate your attention the entire time. Maeve Hartley’s brother Beckett is Asher Callahan’s teammate, and the three became good friends. Maeve and Asher formed a close bond when each was going through a similar hardship dealing with grief, and they continued to support each ever since. After overhearing a conversation that someone was going to bid on a date with Asher at a charity auction so she could take advantage of his football and ad fame, Maeve knew she had to do something. It was her brother’s idea that she bid on Asher and knowing she was a starving artist and that it was funding a great charitable cause he would fund her bid. So she won the date with her best friend, except it was no ordinary date, it included an overnight stay in Vegas, luckily they had separate rooms, because both were harboring more than friend feelings for one another, though either were in denial or not wanting to cross the line for the sake of their friendship. Then their two rooms stay turned into one, but they were adults and friends, so that was ok, but was it after they wind up waking up married? I loved watching these two navigate their new situation and how everything played out, with the perfect balance of drama, heartwarming moments, charming humor, witty dialogue, heartfelt emotions, and a wonderful and one of the best friends-to-lovers romance. As with all of Lauren Blakely’s books, the writing, plot and world building are incredible, as are the character growth and development. Thank you for another fabulous story, and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Vanessa Edwin and Robert Hatchet deliver a fabulous performance voicing the characters and their portrayal of each was perfection. I loved how they took each role and made it their own, sounding believable and just as I imagined the characters to sound. Edwin was a natural in Maeve’s role, grasping every aspect of her personality, her strength, determination, and her fierceness. Hatchet was just as fabulous as Asher, showcasing his all aspects of his personality and delivering a swoon worthy performance. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the right tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling every single one. These two make a great team, with voices and talent that complement each other and a performance that takes the already amazing story to another level. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.
