Publisher Description
Before he could forge a band of elite warriors ... he had to become one himself.
Brandon Webb's experiences in the world's most elite sniper corps are the stuff of legend. From his grueling years of training in Naval Special Operations to his combat tours in the Persian Gulf and Afghanistan, The Red Circle provides a rare and riveting look at the inner workings of the U.S. military through the eyes of a covert operations specialist.
Yet it is Webb's distinguished second career as a lead instructor for the shadowy "sniper cell" and Course Manager of the Navy SEAL Sniper Program that trained some of America's finest and deadliest warriors - including Marcus Luttrell and Chris Kyle - that makes his story so compelling. Luttrell credits Webb's training with his own survival during the ill-fated 2005 Operation Redwing in Afghanistan.
Kyle went on to become the U.S. military's top marksman, with more than 150 confirmed kills.
From a candid chronicle of his student days, going through the sniper course himself, to his hair-raising close calls with Taliban and al Qaeda forces in the northern Afghanistan wilderness, to his vivid account of designing new sniper standards and training some of the most accomplished snipers of the 21st century, Webb provides a rare look at the making of the Special Operations warriors who are at the forefront of today's military.
Explosive, revealing, and intelligent, The Red Circle provides a uniquely personal glimpse into one of the most challenging and secretive military training courses in the world.
A portion of proceeds from this book will go towards The Red Circle Charitable Foundation, which helps families of fallen Special Operations Warriors.

Most Impressive.
I can not recommend this book enough. No BS or chest thumping. This book is far more about the man than the lore and propaganda of the Navy Seals. Really exemplifies how every experience in life can have meaning in the long run and the importance of having good teachers with real world experience. I would recomend this book to anyone who is involved in any kind of education and high school students and above. Above average.
Outstanding!
I've read both of Marcus' books, Chris Kyle's book, and it's very interesting to see how Brandon's story and their stories all tie together and intertwine with them knowing eachother. Their perspecitves of some of the same events are very interesting and vary from their own personal perspective.
Brandon's story is particularly interesting because of his previous experiences in the Mid East working as a SEAL before 9/11 occured and his involvement responding to the Cole attack. And because of the particular hardships he faced just getting to BUD/s, it makes you appreciate his commitment to be a SEAL and serve. You get the distinct impression that Brandon is humble, intellectual, measured, and genuinely wants to make an impact toward the end goal as a Team. His desire to impart knowledge is obvious in the great SEALs he helped create in Luttrell, Kyle and the many others we will never know about.
This audiobook is the best well read audiobook that I have listened to out of the many that I have purchased. But as is the usual with these types of books, there are numerous and repeatable mispronunciations of acronyms and places in the audio. Just a lack of coaching to the reader. Regardless, the reader does a wonderful job of conveying the emotions and seriousness of the subject in the moment. The reader does an Outstanding job of being being the voice of Brandon in this audio. There are no distractions. You just get sucked right in to the experience Brandon has naturally and intelligently written about. And then there's the added treat of having Brandon himself in the audio synopsize each chapter before it starts. As of right now, this is my favorite and it's going to be really hard to beat with how well it is executed in audio.
