Publisher Description
The novel begins when Van Weyden is swept overboard into San Francisco Bay, and plucked from the sea by Larsen's seal-hunting vessel, the Ghost. This ship's evil captain, Wolf Larsen - The Sea-Wolf - is a murderous tyrant who uses his superhuman strength to torture and destroy, his brilliant mind to invent sick games, and his relentless will to control his mutinous crew. Pressed into service as a cabin boy by the ruthless captain, Van Weyden becomes an unwilling participant in a brutal shipboard drama. Larsen's increasingly violent abuse of the crew fuels a mounting tension that ultimately boils into mutiny, shipwreck, and a desperate confrontation.
Customer Reviews
Ringing sound amidst the reading.
I feel terrible, because the beginning of the book was fine. It’s not grade - ‘A’ quality, but you get what you pay for except by chapter 8 there is a ringing, a high pitch, like tone. I shouldn’t even call it “ringing” because there’s no ‘ing’, there’s just ‘ring’. But because it’s on going and consistent it’s ring-ing. I read the other review and was wondering what they meant and this is what they were talking about. It’s like feedback. The microphone must have been near someone’s headphones or I have no idea. It’s triggered my tinnitus and now my ears, BOTH OF THEM, won’t stop ringing. Guess that makes the two of us! …I’ve decided to give it two stars, because the voices wasn’t bad. They were actually fun. And the reading was fine too. I’m gonna skip the chapter and see if it stops. But yknow.. that’s not how this is supposed to work lol.
Unlistenable
The reader’s voice and the way he reads makes it unlistenable. It’s the voice of the unholy matrimony of a rusty spring and a old man. It sounds like he reads this while sitting on a trampoline with 10 toddlers jumping all around him. Jack London is an amazing writer so i hope a new audiobook recording can be made
