Even before the rock ’n’ roll drama Daisy Jones & The Six made Taylor Jenkins Reid a breakout star, this dishy Old Hollywood love story made a splash. It’s the story of an ailing, 79-year-old retired actress named Evelyn Hugo who agrees to do one last big interview with a struggling entertainment writer to drum up publicity—and reveal some long-held secrets. Reid’s novel is a juicy and sexy soap opera, but it’s never tawdry. Even when Evelyn and the people around her are making bad decisions—which happens a lot—it’s almost always for the right reasons. Alma Cuervo narrates the story with all the cool Tinseltown glamour it requires. Breezy and entertaining, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is the perfect accompaniment for errands, a commute, or a day of glamorous self-care.

Enjoyed the book
Good read
Hyped up….for what?
This book was OK—it’s one of those books that’s obviously written in hopes of being picked up for tv/movie. It was really hyped up, but disappointing overall. It’s repetitive and boring, and the plot is quite…thin. There are a few parts that convince you it might just be “slow,” and getting better, but every big moment ends in a bit of a letdown.
Real life movie star
It felt as if Evelyn Hugo was a real person, the narration switch up bothered me at first but I grew to enjoy it because you would be able to have a better sense of the time switch up. I loved everything about this book and would recommend to anyone who enjoys being captivated by a novel
