Great Audio book

This series has made me into someone who would rather listen to an audiobook while I drive instead of music. my only complaint on this set is that it's a few hours shorter then the others. I have just listen to series 1 and this one. I'm looking forward to the third.

Narration distractingly bad

At one point in the book Conan Doyle describes Holmes as chuckling under his breath; the reader playing Holmes ignores Doyle's intention and proceedes to laugh like a jackle. As Holmes, he laughs like a jackle every time he gets the chance, whether Conan Doyle intends him to or not. In short there is zero subtelty in this clumsy, blunt reading of Holmes's passages. In his portrayal of Holmes, this reader comes off as one of the most annoying characters imaginable. Not even someone as amiable as Watson would be able to stand being around a Holmes who spoke and sounded like this one. Neither can the reader. I made it about 30 minutes into the 4 hours of parts one and two before I could no longer ignore the overall bad reading and had to turn it off. Only the voice portraying Watson does so with any degree of skill. The track also skips over and over again. This is an overstuffed, halfbaked, total disappointment.
