Internationally acclaimed crime writer Jo Nesbø’s antihero police investigator, Harry Hole, is back: in a bone-chilling thriller that will take Hole to the brink of insanity.

Oslo in November. The first snow of the season has fallen. A boy named Jonas wakes in the night to find his mother gone. Out his window, in the cold moonlight, he sees the snowman that inexplicably appeared in the yard earlier in the day. Around its neck is his mother’s pink scarf.

Hole suspects a link between a menacing letter he’s received and the disappearance of Jonas’s mother—and of perhaps a dozen other women, all of whom went missing on the day of a first snowfall. As his investigation deepens, something else emerges: he is becoming a pawn in an increasingly terrifying game whose rules are devised—and constantly revised—by the killer.

Fiercely suspenseful, its characters brilliantly realized, its atmosphere permeated with evil, The Snowman is the electrifying work of one of the best crime writers of our time.

The Snowman

I am totally hooked on this author. Character development, depth, complexity make it wonderful. If you enjoyed 'the girl with the dragon tatoo series' you will be very satisfied with Jo Nesbo, and the excellent reading by Robin Sachs. I couldn't wait to pick it up again.

First introduction to the Harry Hole series and was not disappointed. The translation is so great that if the names were not odd or the locations one would believe this to be an American novel and not one translated to English. Highly recommend for any mystery fan you will not be disappointed.

great audiobook

This was a great book. The reader's voice is lush and captivating and the story itself is exciting and unpredictable. I did find that it was a little hard to keep track of characters...even in the last chapter or two I wasn't 100% sure what characters were involved in the conversation. This could be because I didn't realize The Snowman is the 7th book in a series and I hadn't read the other 6 books, or it could be that the Norweigan names confused me. Either way, it was great and I am about start another book in the series.
