Audie Award Nominee, Audio Drama, 2013
On Christmas Eve, after Sean breaks one of the tree ornaments, a strange force shrinks both him and his sister Samantha down to ornament size. They meet an Old St. Nicholas ornament who tells them that in order to return to their normal height, they must talk to the magical Star Angel who resides at the very top of the Christmas Tree - and they must do so before sunrise, when the magic that brings the ornaments to life fades away and will turn them into ornaments as well.
With the aid of the Cookie Dough Man ’66, Lighthouse, Sheriff and Pockets the tramp clown, they embark on a journey to the top of the tree. Blocking their way is the sinister Scrimshaw, a damaged ornament who lives on the “Empty Side” of the tree. Can they reach the Star Angel before first light?
With delightful songs by Jeffrey Gage, The Star Angel is a holiday musical adventure that will warm your heart for many Christmas Eves to come.

Great New Christmas Musical
The Colonial Radio Theater on Brilliance Audio combine the best elements of music, drama, sentimentality, and values that I look for during the holidays. I can only watch Rudolph, Frosty, and Charlie Brown so many times. In this story, the children wrestle with the challenges of childhood reaching for understanding, compassion, and growth with the help of a wonderful cast of characters. The story never slows and each of the ornaments truly take on lives of their own. The music supports the story effectively with upbeat fast numbers, soft and slow emotional pieces, and even what seems like a tap dance on the radio - how do you do that?! Destined to be a holiday classic in the fast growing world of radio theater, this audiobook will be a joy to have in my collection for years to come!.
Smiles Abound
This one put nothing but smiles on my face. Love the music, especially the Snowman Chorus. Good Christmas story. Another home run from Colonial Radio Theatre.
Really Terrific Christmas Tale
When I heard the preview, I had my doubts -- it's tough to craft a Christmas story that isn't saccharin-sweet or hokey -- but Jerry Robbins and the cast of the Colonial Radio Theatre has rarely disappointed me or my kids when it comes to putting together some spectacular audio tales -- and we have purchased a lot of them over the years. So I put aside the doubts and gave it a try -- I'm glad I did. This one is really fun -- great story, fully developed characters, and terrific music. This shall be one that my kids and I will enjoy each year. My only regret is that the chosen audio preview segment is so unremarkable, because I think better segments could be found throughout the production. Buy it!
