Publisher Description
Immerse yourself in a world of love, vengeance, compassion, and irony with the evocative stories of Eva Luna. Author Isabel Allende introduced this well-loved character to audiences in her earlier novel,
Eva Luna, which describes the adventurous life of a poor Latin-American woman who finds happiness and success through her masterful storytelling skills. Now Eva returns, this time in a treasure trove of opulent and stirring stories that speak to every emotion.

A master wordsmith, a perfect narration
The Stories of Eva Luna are warm, enchanting, and lovely fantasy. Isabel Allende is, indeed, a master wordsmith, using language to mesmerize and surprise the reader. No one could narrate these wonderful stories better, with more character than Elizabeth Pena. Her warm, slightly husky, though feminine voice, her Cuban accent, lend a Rich color to the stories. I highly recommend this audio edition.
Abridged
I adore rereading this book on occasion. But the audio is abridged, omitting some of my favorite stories. "Amadio Peralta" are WORDS that roll off my tongue when I read that story aloud to people, mostly during picnics. The South American ambiance of each valuable story in THE STORIES OF EVA LUNA are profound and enlightening. A woman who is encased in a jungle castle, to merge with the jungle entities/energies, to become greater than human. A beautiful girl who, willingly imprisoned, entranced with the lute and her lover, lives with an image of herself as eternally beautiful, … until civilization intrudes and bursts the concept she has for herself and her world. Allende relates to us the world as being extremely simple and massively complex at the same time. I must have purchased this book for myself and friends over five times. This book is by far better read than heard.
