Loved it
Frank muller is the best narrator for this book I just started the second on and was so happy to hear it was him again he encompasses all the characters personalities perfectly and made it so much easier to follow along.
Chapters not correct
Is it normal for audiobook chapters to NOT align with the actual book’s chapters? Is it normal for a chapter to begin in the middle of a word? This is annoying.
A horrendous loathsome horrific story
The authors seemingly believe that you should not be succinct using only the necessary words for the story it verges on a fanatical religious belief like they are the clerics of some god of words and the story only exists to use as many unnecessary words as possible so much so that to make something longer they just repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat,repeat the same word over and over again. All the extra words add nothing to the story just drag on and on boring you out of your mind. If it annoyed you just reading this buckle up as it gets worse.
WARNING SPOILERS BELOW:
The bad characters all have some physical thing that makes them stand out but the actions they take are as if they are all one in the same even the dialogue of the bad guy one could be said by bad guy two. The motives are bizarre and unbelievable the main bad guy is disliked be wife of father of main good guys father no understanding as to why the main guy would suddenly turn from being envious and try to kill the baby after pretending to be the best friend since college to the guy that took him under his wing gave him a successful business… no reason for Richard the bad guy’s son who is apparently the best friend of Jack the baby that almost was killed to even be in the story he just comes along and literally does nothing except be annoying and get sick so that the main good guy has to physically carry him around for most of his time. Speedy inspires the kid to go on the adventure where the kid blindly walks westward across America with a map that Speedy gives him yet just to strangely meet up with Speedy in California just outside the dark
