We loved following Margaret’s attempts to unsnarl the knotty threads of Vida’s past—all leading up to a shocking revelation. Setterfield’s lush prose and dramatic plot twists are old-school gothic fun, and that deliciously overripe mood is captured beautifully by actresses Lynn Redgrave and Ruthie Henshall. Does not improve even at 1.5x
Slow, plodding, monotone story that does not improve. I regret wasting $5 on this audiobook. The story is bound by the bookends of the biographer’s mysterious origins. You could jump from the first few tracks to track 50 and save yourself the time wasted on this book.
