Publisher Description
Set during the reign of Louis XIII (1610-43) and based on actual events, The Three Musketeers is perhaps the greatest "cloak and sword" story ever written. Three Musketeers, loyal servants of the King, are joined by the dashing D'Artagnan, a veritable Byronic hero. These four are pitted against the master of intrigue, Cardinal Richelieu, and the quintessential wicked woman, Lady de Winter. Dumas was quite expert in pacing and varying action while weaving historical fact with purest fiction. This great work is the unchallenged archetype for literary romance and has been a perennial delight for generations of readers.
Customer Reviews
HORRIBLE!
You may think the price is worth it... but its not. It. is. not. The narrator's tone is uncannily irritating, he pauses at all the wrong places, and his inflection is caroonish and inhuman. This system of five star ratings is ill equipped to express the pain of listening to this audiobook. Do not be stupid like me. I didn't listen to the preview, and listening to the preview now, you can but little convieve of how much you will come to hate the narator and his "voice" which, at one point I was convinced had to be some sort of computer program (no real human talks like this). Just, pay the extra five or ten bucks and get a recording you can actually stand to listen to. ITunes won't refund the twenty you'll waste on this and if you really want an audiobook of the Three Musketeers, you'll just end up buying another, not so horrible one like I'm about to do.
