Heiser shows how important it is to understand this world and appreciate how its contribution helps to make sense of scripture. The book is clear and well done, treating many ideas and themes that often go unseen themselves. With this book, such themes will no longer be neglected, so listen to it and discover a new realm for reflection about what scripture teaches.

Superb!
I bought this on Audible. It's a great book that transcends the lightweight teaching you get other places (like as in church). However, it's a scholarly book that requires concentrated listening and persistence. It explores what was in the minds of the Old and New Testament writers and characters when they referenced spiritual and cosmic realities. If you want to understand the tie between ancient near-east "myth," C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, the Old Testament "weird stuff," and Jesus, Paul, Peter, and Jude in the NT, this is it!
A Gem!
A mind opener!
Very thorough and informative
Fascinating but a little over my head
