Once a week, her husband, Seth, comes home to her. But the rest of the time, he’s off living with one of his other two wives, whom he’s made Thursday swear she will never, ever contact. This situation throws Thursday (and those listening to her story) off-balance from the first scene. When Thursday makes a horrifying discovery about Seth, The Wives shifts from a tense psychodrama to a pulse-pounding thriller that’s laced with shocking twists and revelations. Left with questions
I was very entrenched with this book. Finished it in one day! But i am left with so many questions and.. well after you finish it.. many things that happened just dont add up.. and now im left with many questions.
Trigger warning for my infant loss Moms
The book fell from my favor about half way through. I feel like the author painted mothers who’ve experienced infant loss in a very poor, unstable light. Am I sensitive? Maybe, but I felt she could’ve done a better job at making us feel something deeper for “Thursday” than just pity.
Intersting
This is the first Tarryn Fisher book I've read. Maybe, it wasn't the best way to jump in. The Wives is a psychological thriller and one that you have no idea what's real or what's not.
"Thursday" is in a relationship with a man that has two other wives. Or does he? I have this thing about reading, and I like to connect with characters, and that's probably why I tend to steer towards romance books. Because it engrosses you into the story. The Wives did take me a bit to get through. I didn't feel anything for Thursday, and I basically felt that she had quite the imagination, and her imagination was in overdrive. Since this is a psychological thriller, obviously, I don't want to give the whole story away. Which can be hard when you're reviewing a book.
Maybe keeping a character at arm's length is the intention. Since I don't usually read this genre, theres no way for me to compare.
Overall, I do feel it was worth the read. And even if this is not your usual genre, you may like it as well.
