Beckett Weaver grew up in Bellamy Creek the youngest of three kids. His mom left him and his sisters when he was little. He doesn’t remember much about his mom, but has always felt she didn’t love them enough to stay. Beckett’s future relationships suffered as he never believed in “forever” because the people who are supposed to love you forever often leave. Love isn’t forever, at least not in his experience. He wasn’t necessarily a playboy, but he didn’t commit either. After leaving Bellamy Creek, he ended up making millions before choosing to come home to take care of the family ranch and his father who suffered from dementia. His sister’s helped, but could not take care of their father full time as they had families of their own. Beckett returned home to become caretaker and rancher. When Maddie returned home to take care of her mother’s house, Beck offered his friend a place to stay. As children and later teens, Beck and Maddie were best of friends. They often studied together and hung out as she lived across the road from him. But, he never had the courage to tell her how he truly felt about her.

Maddie never thought she’d return to Bellamy Creek. After her mom died, she was going through a divorce and trying to raise a son on her own. Maddie never had the time or right frame of mind to return to the home that held so many bad memories. Maddie’s mom wasn’t physically abusive, but she was extremely hard on Maddie. Maddie never had any siblings, but she had Beck. Only, she didn’t think of him in a brotherly way. Maddie never had the confidence to tell Beck her true feelings. After graduation, they went their separate ways. When Beck offers her and her son a place to stay while fixing up her mom’s house, she jumps at the chance to reconnect with an old friend.

I’m at a loss for words. Even just sitting down to write this review, I want to cry! Melanie Harlow could not have written a more perfect ending if she tried. Beckett and Maddie’s story was one of lost childhoods, insecurities, death, divorce, gracefully aging, blended families and sooo much more! This novel touched me and made me FEEL, believe that love conquers all. I absolutely love how all the stories, characters and their families came full circle. I could not wait until they dug up the time capsule!!! Everything in the capsule described Griffin, Cole, Enzo, and Beck to a tee! It’s fun to see who they chose to give their hearts to and grow their families. I enjoyed seeing Elliott and Eugene (Beck’s dad) interact with each other. Everyone was so accepting of Elliott and his creative ways. I love that their friendship survived the test of time and all the &#$@ life throws at you! Amazingly awesome, feel good story! I’ve truly loved EVERYTHING Melanie has every written, but this series touched my heart and made me feel deep down to my soul! I can not recommend this series enough!!! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.
