Here is an exciting original short story written exclusively for audio, featuring the Torchwood characters and read by Naoko Mori, who plays Toshiko in the television series.
An age-old secret is buried in the heart of the Welsh countryside. After a series of violent and seemingly unrelated deaths, the solution to a riddle seems to point the finger of blame at Captain Jack Harkness. Can the Torchwood team uncover the truth that lies hidden in time to save Jack?
Best story of the bunch
This is definitely the best of the Torchwood novels currently available as an audiobook. Much better than average story, with lots of questions, twists, turns and personal challenges for our beloved Team.
Fantastic Read, Not the strongest Torchwood story
Naoko Mori does the best job of all the Torchwood cast at capturing the voices and accents of the series regulars in her reading. She's amazing. The vibrancy of her telling goes a long way toward covering up a somewhat difficult to follow storyline and morally ambiguous ending. Moral ambiguity is one of the hallmarks of the best of Torchwood, but this one is just thrown in without exploration or even comment. Steven Savile let a great opportunity slip away.
Enjoyable reading of an interesting story!
Naoko Mori (Toshiko on the TV show) gives an enjoyable reading of this fast-paced and intricate story. She captures the other series regulars' voices particularly well - even American Captain Jack's! The author, Steve Saville, also does well by the characters - no distracting inconsistencies with the televised Torchwood, as they race about solving a mystery with both historical and supernatural elements.
