In Touched by Love...
Fiercely independent Janie Jansen has always believed there were worse things in life than being blind, and she's spent her life proving it. She's moved away from her overprotective parents and built a life in New York City and is one of the top technical editors in her company. That is until an unfortunate accident turns her life upside down and she's forced to give up the very independence she's worked so hard to achieve.
Firefighter Boyd Hudson pushed past his tragic past and is weeks away from accomplishing his ultimate dream - being accepted into medical school. His intense focus on his goal while working three jobs has taken its toll. With a trail of failed relationships behind him, Boyd is painstakingly aware of his limitations and avoids girlfriends completely - a difficult task given his attraction to one of his coworkers.
When Boyd comes to Janie's rescue, she's forced to accept his help, and Janie discovers there's more to the sexy-sounding office flirt than one-liners. Their connection deepens as Janie heals, but it turns out that Janie isn't the only one who needs healing. Boyd's painful past comes back to haunt him, threatening their relationship and forcing Boyd to reevaluate everything he knows about himself.
Great book in print or audio
Melissa Foster has always delivered fantastic characters in her books but Boyd and Janie are extraordinary. While they are strong people we don't realize just how strong and independent they both are as they overcome obstacles in this beautiful relationship. As their story unfolds we see how their individual pasts have molded them into the people they are today. I don't want to spoil a bit of this plot for you so I will only summarize to say that Janie has taken a fall in the subway and panics as she calls out for help. I felt tense as I continued reading about her dilemma until coworker Boyd realizes he has walked away with her phone and needs to return to the subway discovering that Janie has been injured. As Boyd helps her recover, their feelings grow for one another. This is a beautiful story of two people who find each other somewhat unexpectedly. Melissa Foster weaves magic in this book as various characters become part of the story. It must have taken a significant amount of research by the author to describe the challenges Janie experiences navigating the world. BJ Harrison’s narration was a pleasure to listen to. He created auditory interest with the voices he used for different characters. I loved this audiobook. A must read/listen. I hope it touches your heart as much as it touched mine.
Touched by Love..Boyd & Janie
Touched by Love is a story about trust, independence, friendships as well as fighting demons from a tragic past.
Janie, who is partially blind, lives independently in New York City with her best friend Kiki. She works as a technical write with aspirations of writing a romance novel. Boyd is a firefighter and paramedic working toward getting into medical school; he’s also fighting demons from a tragic past. As a consultant at the same firm as Janie, Boyd was attracted to Janie but would not act on it due to leaving for medical school in the future. When Janie has an accident in the subway, Boyd comes to her rescue and is determined to take care of her until she is healed. As their relationship builds, Boyd needs to decide if Janie is more important than medical school. Janie is determined to help Boyd with his demons and prevent him from giving up his dream of attending medical school.
Another wonderful story from Melissa Foster.
A Favorite Book by Melissa Foster
I have now found a new favorite book by Melissa Foster, and this says a lot about this book, because I have loved every one of her books that I have read, but this one is special. Janie is blind, but this does not define her. She is beautiful, inside and out, and her blindness has made her stronger and more independent. Then there is Boyd, a sexy fireman and EMT, that is hoping to get into medical school. He also has his own demons from his past, but he is the sweetest man. Their story will keep you reading and/or listening, even when you should be sleeping, or doing other things, but this book is so worth it. It makes you really think about a lot of things, but it at the same time is hot, romantic, and has a wonderful story. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator, B.J. Harrison, does an outstanding job. He can do so much, just using his voice. I highly recommend this book, whether you read it, or listen to it.
