Great storytelling but…
It took me a hot minute to get into the story, I’m not gonna lie. But I truly feel like that was due to the AI narrator.
The further it got into the story, the more I realized I liked it. Kind of a lot actually. It’s definitely got some moments that I feel are a bit generalized as far as vampire stories go but it’s a decently thought out story and fairly well written.
If not for the AI narrator, I’d have given it 5 stars. It’s hard to get past the incorrect inflections and the wrong “voices” for the characters. Sometimes it would use the wrong voice for the characters, like a female voice for a male character or vice versa. Yes, the narrator’s voice is supposed to be female but you know how women will deepen their tone to portray a man speaking, right? Well the AI narrator does that too, just at the wrong times. Also, the weird pausing between words and syllables and inflections on the wrong words or part of words was difficult to get past at times.
A good narrator like XE Sands could have made this audiobook absolutely phenomenal.
That being said, it’s a decent enough story that I’ll be listening to the next one. Possibly more depending on how the story goes from there.
Can’t Follow The Story
I cannot for the life of me follow the story. There’s no way to tell whose point of view is. I was so excited to listen to this series.
