Two Steps Forward

I need to like the protagonist.

No one tells a redemption story like this author but the main character, Zöe, is insufferable. More spiritual than religious, Zöe doesn’t know the difference between a mantra and a motto and never realizes that the universe providing for her is actually the generosity of people who plan. Or is that the author? And why must the author telegraph their politics at regular intervals? We get it, you’re in the cool club.
