A build-up that grows on you
I enjoyed the first book and the second book was even better. I really like how the author weaves storytelling in and the word choices are lovely. One of my chief complaints in the first book was that we didn’t get to delve too much into the wood/magic system, so I appreciated that we got more of it in this one. I do wish there had been even more added to that part but enough was going on to propel the story that there really wasn’t time. The author remains consistent in that the beginning and endings are really strong but the middle suffers a bit, but push through and you get to the good bits. There were some parts that I genuinely questioned what the scene was for, and it gave off the feeling of having been added as a sprinkling of world building without the commitment, but it wasn’t terribly boggy or out of place. Everything drew together in the end and I appreciated how the tales were told. Good book, definitely grows on you, and the narrator did an absolutely fantastic job!

Such a letdown from the first book
Immaculate!
I personally didn’t want this book to end! It was truly an art seeing all of the different stories and perspectives come together in the end. I loved this series.
