But author, doctor and comedian Adam Kay’s talent is rooted in his ability to strike a balance between comedy and tragedy with unflinching honesty, self-deprecating humour and a guffaw-inducing turn of phrase. Ultimately, his memoir Undoctored tells two stories: how an unsure young man became a doctor, and how he unshackled himself from a career that was damaging his sense of self.
