Publisher Description
My reputation at Fairview University preceded me. I was the projected number-one pick in the NHL draft and the fan favorite at the rink. People wanted to be me or be with me.
Except for Lyla James Marichal.
She didn't look at me like I was her next meal. She eyed me with disdain.
Instead of vying for my attention, she ignored me and pushed me away.
She was completely unattainable, and I became obsessed with her.
When I finally got her, it felt like I was on top of the world. I was going to help the team win another championship, going into the draft, and had Lyla by my side.
And then, without warning, she left me.
Vanished.
It took me three bitter, angry, long years to find her, but I did, and now she owes me a lot more than just an explanation.
Three years ago, she ruined my life.
Now, I was going to become her worst nightmare.

Interesting romance book
Not your typical romance book. Some cringey scenes, but overall a good read.

Dark romance with triggers (stalking, SA)
This first read by the author had made her a favorite of mine. One of my top reads of the year.
The story had me full of angst from the beginning until the end. It was broken into two parts.
The first was Lachlan and Lila meeting and falling in love. The second deals with their reunion.
Lyla is a survivor and a fighter. We learn her past and the trauma she is experiencing. It was an emotional struggle for me to read and learn her life battles. She is closed off with a small circle of friends. She loves hard and will sacrifice her happiness for those she loves.
Lachlan is the hockey hero. He is arrogant but not obnoxious. He stays to himself. Women through themselves at him but not Lyla James. He had to put in the effort.
Things are great and plans are made until things crash. Lyla disappears and Lach is left devastated.
The new Lach is fierce. Angry, possessive, jealous, obsessed. Lyla doesn’t stand a chance. Nor does she put up much of a fight. Now she is not a pushover but stays in her protective role.
I loved the story, the characters and the ending. I did think the villain got off too eady but that is just me.
Lyla and Lach along with their friends have us an entertaining page turner full of drama and angst.
