Publisher Description

A spin-off from the number one Amazon best sellers A Not So Meet Cute and So Not Meant to Be and narrated by Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter, USA Today best-selling author Meghan Quinn brings you a heartwarming yet hilarious full-length novel on what life is like after the happily ever after.

Ryot Bisley is my husband. Yes, the former third baseman for the Chicago Rebels and absolute heartthrob of the Windy City. That Ryot Bisley.

The first time I ran into him, he was grumpy, a horrific host, and left me on his sofa with nothing but a nylon baseball flag to use as a blanket.

The second time, he reluctantly bought me dinner, stared at my chest the entire night, and still sported that permanent frown.

The third time.... Well, that was a game changer. His smile captured me, his teasing charmed me, and his touches excited me.

So when he was called up to the majors that didn’t stop us from knocking it out of the park and all the way down the aisle.

Eleven years later...I’d love to say we’re happy as ever, but the man who sent me dirty text messages every day is long gone and Mr. Frowny Face is back.

He’s so focused on trying to build a life after baseball that he doesn’t see the life we’ve already created together...so I make the hard decision and serve him divorce papers.

Problem is...my husband refuses to accept those papers. Instead, he has a new game plan that makes untying the knot of our marriage a little tricky. And just when I thought I wanted to be traded...he's slowly, tantalizingly roping me back in.

Oh my gosh. This beautiful, beautiful, story is a masterpiece. This marriage in peril story is unlike anything else Meghan Quinn has put out, and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Ryot and Myla’s story was still full of the same heartfelt and lighthearted and sexy moments that I’ve come to expect from Meghan… but it was just ramped up so much against the situation of her wanting a divorce and him being blindsided.

The story is told in chapters past and present, so we witness Ryot and Myla’s growing friendship and eventual romance juxtaposed against their unraveling marriage. How did they get to where they are today? Can Myla ever forgive her husband for his betrayal? Will Ryot ever figure out how he let her down?

This story is deep. Myla’s childhood was a mess, and she has so many issues. She’s learned to cope and manage better, and it’s interesting to see how she retreats to that broken place again amid the breakdown of her marriage.

Fans of Quinn’s will love the cameos from other characters, like the baseball guys, and the Cane brothers. We even get to attend JP and Kelsey’s wedding!

This book will make you laugh, and cry, and cry some more. My heart broke around chapter 13 and I wasn’t sure I was going to recover! Narrators Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter, working in dual narration, were magnificent telling this story! Their portrayals were nuanced and I felt every up and down they went through.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

An Amazing Beauty of a Story & Exceptional Listen🎧

OMG, this is book is absolutely amazing, a beauty of a story, a real gem that tugs on your heartstrings, has some great laugh out lout moments, dialogue that will put a smile on your face and some heartfelt moments that will bring some tears to your eyes. Meghan Quinn is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style, she has an impressive ability to bring you into her stories, right alongside her characters giving you a bird's-eye view of everything they are experiencing. Once you start this book, you will not want to put it down, it is so easy to lose track of time and everything going on around you, you just want to spend time with these characters and see or hear their story straight to the end. This book is Ryot and Myla Bisley’s story, their marriage is not what it used to be, actually Ryot is not what he used to be and Myla is very unhappy with him and their new life in California. After Ryot’s professional baseball career ended, he started a new venture with his brother and another former player, which takes them to California. Ryot never really asked Myla how she felt about the move and when he gets caught up in his business venture, he just takes her for granted, never really knowing how she is feeling or what she is up to. The longer they are in California, the more distanced they become, and she is missing her bestie, Nicole, who is still in Chicago. Myla is so unhappy that she had divorce papers drawn up, Ryot was clueless why, which makes it even worse. It is not what he wants, so he convinces her to hold off until after the Cane’s wedding. Quinn masterfully plotted this story, she alternates timelines, from when they first met, then the growth of their relationship up to their marriage, with the current timeline in between those. Ryot had to work for Myla’s interest, she had little faith in relationships, thanks to her parents’ crappy marriage, plus her mother, who is a piece of work, did a number on her self-esteem. Ryot may have been a forever man, he just forgot how to keep his forever girl happy. This book has it all, a perfect balance of drama, humor, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance, which all equals to the finest kind of escapism. Meghan Quinn, thank you for another outstanding story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter are fabulous bringing these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed and were believable in every role they played. Stella Hunter’s Myla was brilliant, she grasped every side of her personality and handled her witty dialogue with ease and the perfect snap. Jason Clarke as Ryot was perfection, swoon worthy, and he too grasped all sides of his personality. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions, projected them into their performance and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. They make an excellent duet team and their narration enhances an already fabulous story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.
