At the dawn of the Second Age of Atlas, a mythic age long forgotten, a bereaved boy named Albion Seraph sets out to bring his deceased mother, Atherielle, back from the afterlife.

In his search for Gravitis, a forbidden realm that harbors the power to resurrect the dead, Albion allies himself with Blackburn, notorious captain of the Pyrates of Blood Bay, only to awaken Delphina, Duchess of De Spair, an ancient vampiress who curses them, turning them into Vampyrates—half vampires, half pirates—the first of their kind to sail the Nine Seas that surround the Island of Atlantis.
