Customer Reviews
TERRIBLE If I had bought this at a book/music store I would seek to return it!
I have never been vexed enough or thrilled enough to write a review before. I wish I had read the other reviews first. If this was free it would not be worth the space it takes up in your computer for storage. This is a complete waste.
This is not in alphabetical order.
The words are not by category.
They are completely random words in a completely random order with no reason or guide.
It is a completely random list of words first in English and then in Polish, the Polish is repeated only once. Completely random, it may go from "friend" to "the workmen" to "book" for hours.
There is no online guide to tell you at what time which word is, this is really the worst product I have ever purchased on Itunes. Terrible!
There are no chapters. This is a complete complete waste.
Excellent, but it is what it is
An excellent collection of random audio flashcards. Don't expect anything else, and you won't be disappointed.
Be mindful of the intent behind the book
I sympathize with the one-star reviewers, however, I found this book to be extremely useful in my experience.
The vocabulary is presented as a word, a pause, then the translation. That is all. The beginning language is alternately Polish or English. There are no declinations. The vocabulary words are purposefully not related to one another to force memorization.
This book is not good for learning how to converse from scratch, nor is it good for learning grammar.
BUT
It is extremely useful for building a vocabulary such that one might understand the nature of conversations. It's the first foot-hold in preparation for an immersive experience.
I went through about 1/2 of this book prior to a trip to Poland - and it was invaluable. I was surrounded by people who spoke no English at all and so "broken English" didn't get anywhere. Being able to understand the gist of a conversation and being able to cobble together imperfect but intelligible thoughts was a life-saver.
Again, this is vocabulary alone ... not a true language lesson.
For me, it spelled the difference between being told not to eat with a "Nie!" and a hand-gesture
and me understanding - that I shouldn't eat the fish - it wasn't fresh.
I couldn't say it perfectly after this... but I certainly understood what was told to me
Hope this helps
