One of the most amazing pieces of American literature written
I am a true fan of Henery David Thoreau and his writing's. However, in the audibook the speakers voice is terrible. He sounds a little like Stephen Hawking with a Northern accent. The computer like monotone of his voice made it difficult to stay interested. But because the book is so amazing and the price is so low I still give 3 stars.
Powerful plea for simplicity
In this highly complex and often "drive one to distraction world," this should be a must read - or listen. Throreau offers powerful insights into what is really important in life. As he says, "Simplicity, Simplicity, Simplicity...." The man was a genius and his musings are both philosophical and sincere. As American naturalist and essayist John Burroughs said, "There is nothing else like it; nothing so good, certainly. It is a challenge and a triumph, and has a morning freshness and elan..."
One caution...The reader does a very nice job but has a New England accent which fits the setting but some may not like. Click on the preview button for a sample.

For me, Walden has been a life changer. It is a wonderful book
