Obviously a classic
Tolstoy really made a masterpiece with this one, and although it is classified as a novel it is informed by his own true experience. The only downfall to this work resides in the fact that we listeners are receiving the translation of his original work, and as a result there are expressions and statements which would make sense to a Russian of the timeframe but not to an American of 2020. One issue I had which is due entirely to the fact I completed the work in an audiobook, whereas a hard copy would have made it easy to understand the names of the many many characters and it would have aided in recalling names throughout the work. Ultimately, however, it is very clear how this work would be a classic. Tolstoy was certainly a learned and well-thought man.
Excellent Narrativion, Poor Editing
This audio edition of the book has sections which are repeated, sometimes back to back.
