Publisher Description
It's the story "They" don't want you to listen to. Though, to be fair, "They" are probably right about this one. To quote the Bible, "Learning the truth can be like loosening a necktie, only to realize it was the only thing keeping your head attached". No, don't put the book back on the shelf - it is now your duty to purchase it to prevent others from listening to it. Yes, it works with audiobooks, too, I don't have time to explain how.
While investigating a fairly straightforward case of a shape-shifting interdimensional child predator, Dave, John, and Amy realized there might actually be something weird going on. Together, they navigate a diabolically convoluted maze of illusions, lies, and their own incompetence in an attempt to uncover a terrible truth they - like you - would be better off not knowing.
Your first impulse will be to think that a story this gruesome - and, to be frank, stupid - cannot possibly be true. That is precisely the reaction "They" are hoping for.
Customer Reviews
Literally had nightmares while reading.
Heavy subject matter in this one, well they all are pretty heavy but this one hit differently. At more than one point, I found myself walking away from the story for a few days so I could level back out, I mean like I felt ill physically, mentally and emotionally, lol seriously. Loved it though, really added significant depth and development to the characters and narrative arc of the series overall.
Smartest plot I’ve encountered in years
This one is brilliant. If you’re a fan of Cracked.com, you’ll already be familiar with some of the thematic elements, but to see them assembled and integrated into a novel- and a JDATE novel, to boot- was truly a thrill. I won’t mention the number of times I’ve re-read this (and his other books), but I will suggest that- if you aren’t normally a repeat reader- this is one you might want to do twice. At least. There’s a lot to unpack. Plus, the reading ride doesn’t get much more enjoyable than this.
Keep them coming!!
I rated John Dies at the End a 5 stars. This book was great however I got lost in the middle a few times and had to go back to listen so that I could follow. The book was great but the narration wasn’t as good as the first book. I also didn’t realize this was part 3 and not part 2 so it may have been my fault I couldn’t follow it as easily. Regardless David Wong books are fantastic and I am a huge fan. The mixture of comedy and excitement leaves nothing on the table to wish for. I legitimately enjoyed this book from beginning till the end. I am now going to go back and listen to This Book is Full of Spiders.
