Publisher Description
Why evolution is more than just a theory: it is a fact.
In all the current highly publicized debates about creationism and its descendant "intelligent design", there is an element of the controversy that is rarely mentioned: the evidence, the empirical truth of evolution by natural selection. Even Richard Dawkins and Stephen Jay Gould, while extolling the beauty of evolution and examining case studies, have not focused on the evidence itself. Yet the proof is vast, varied, and magnificent, drawn from many different fields of science. Scientists are observing species splitting into two and are finding more and more fossils capturing change in the past - dinosaurs that have sprouted feathers, fish that have grown limbs.
Why Evolution Is True weaves together the many threads of modern work in genetics, paleontology, geology, molecular biology, and anatomy that demonstrate the "indelible stamp" of the processes first proposed by Darwin. In crisp, lucid prose accessible to a wide audience, Why Evolution Is True dispels common misunderstandings and fears about evolution and clearly confirms that this amazing process of change has been firmly established as a scientific truth.

Easy to grasp Evolution
This book explains evolution & the evidence in an exceptionally easy-to-understand way. While at the same time explaining how special creation doesn't work in certain areas. It's an excellent book for those who want to learn more about evolution or who want to begin to learn about evolution. I HIGHLY recommend it!!!
Waste of money and trees
I was required to purchase this book for class. I have read many books on evolution in my free time. Of books written this century, why evolution is true was by far the most boring. This book was pretty clearly written to poke fun at christian creationists. I don't feel it adds anything helpful to our political environment nor is it a helpful tool for convincing people on the fence. There are far better less polarizing books available. Why evolution is true reads like bible thumping for Darwinism. Its cringy style makes me wish i didn't believe the theory of evolution. The author does seem to be educated on his position but either made many mistakes during the editing process or just was under educated on the science that backs up his points. A petty example of this is that the author states that humans don't eat leaves. I would advise anyone interested in evolution to select a different book.
A Masterpiece of Explanatory Art
A spectacularly accessible book, artfully crafted, and keenly suitable to both scientist and layman alike.
